Kevin Sanchez, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Researcher at Brigham and Women’s Hospital

Exposomics

Epidemiology | Toxicology | Environmental Health

Hello there! My name is Dr. Kevin Sanchez. I received my Ph.D. in Pharmacology & Toxicology from the University of Texas at Austin. I have over seven years of experience using environmental microbes, pollutants, and compounds to regulate inflammation. My doctoral work primarily investigated the impact of environmental compounds on brain health using preclinical models.

I am currently a postdoctoral research fellow in the Division of Women’s Health at Brigham and Women’s Hospital with a dual appointment as a research fellow at Harvard Medical School. My current research (alongside Dr. Kathryn Rexrode) aims to identify metabolites and proteins that influence the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, such as stroke. Importantly, I am interested in how these potential biomarkers may vary between men and women. I am also interested in how environmental exposures throughout the lifespan (i.e., exposomics) can modulate cardiovascular disease risk. My research leverages data from large study cohorts like the Nurses’ Health Study to address the gap in understanding of the biological processes that mediate the increased risk of cardiovascular diseases in women.
