Exposomics AND WOMEN’s HEALTH

Epidemiology | Toxicology | Environmental Health

Hello! I am Dr. Kevin Sanchez, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and Adjunct Faculty of Public Health at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS). My research examines how environmental exposures — ranging from air pollution to psychosocial stressors — influence long-term health outcomes, with a particular focus on women’s health.

My work aims to identify biomarkers that reveal how these environmental exposures influence biological pathways. These biomarkers can serve as early indicators of risk for conditions like cardiovascular disease, cognitive decline, and other age-related outcomes. By working with large cohort studies that follow women over decades, such as the Nurses’ Health Studies, my goal is to determine how exposures across the life course affect key health transitions, including menopause, and how these processes influence aging and brain health.

In addition to my research, I am dedicated to mentoring the next generation of scientists and public health professionals. As an adjunct faculty member at MCPHS, I place particular emphasis on building scientific literacy and critical thinking skills, as well as training in the appropriate use of biostatistical methods suited to their research questions and study designs. My goal is to prepare students to evaluate scientific evidence rigorously and apply epidemiologic methods to public health problems.
