Exposomics AND WOMEN’s HEALTH

Epidemiology | Toxicology | Environmental Health

Hello! I am Dr. Kevin Sanchez, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School. My research explores how environmental exposures — ranging from air pollution to psychosocial stressors — shape long-term health outcomes, with a focus on women’s health outcomes. Using multi-omic approaches such as metabolomics and proteomics, I aim to uncover the biological pathways linking environmental factors to chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease and cognitive decline.

My work integrates epidemiology, exposomics, and advanced statistical modeling to connect environmental factors with sex-specific disease risk. By leveraging large-scale cohort studies, such as the Nurses’ Health Study, I investigate how exposures throughout the lifespan influence key health transitions, including menopause, as well as their downstream effects on aging and brain health. I aspire to establish an independent research group dedicated to applying exposomics in women’s health research—an area that has historically been overlooked.

Beyond my research, I am committed to promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, mentoring the next generation of scientists, and translating scientific findings into effective public health strategies. Through my work, I strive to enhance understanding of how modifiable environmental factors influence disease trajectories and to drive innovative, targeted interventions that improve health outcomes across the lifespan.
